Doing the ground work well before you reach the negotiating table and decide on the “path” you’ll take. Positively will help as also a sence of confidence and self esteem. Set a side any doubts you may have to move and ready to win at all costs.

The key is to br clrar about your preferred outcome. But in the back, you must be willing to compromise to some extent.

You need to know when to push hard, when to accept a compromise and when to walk away. Negotiators are in many ways an artist that needs a large of creativity in order to steer the negotiations to a successful conclusion. Negotiators must remember 3Fs: fair, fast and firm.

According to experts, there is a tactic that is used to negotiating:

1).  Focus to the problem or the question. Logical argument is the key to smooth negotiations.

2).  It is important to firm and polite when making a stand or representating a point.

3).  Significantly raises the advantages and disadvantages.

4).  Be patient and let the process of negotiation take the course.

5).  Put the egos aside and focus on the problems. It is important to find an amicable solution , not self woth nor position.

6).  Do not threaten or otherwise manipulate the party , it is really unethical and unfair.

7).  Aim for solutions that are interest based and not what the individual desires or goals. The best way is to consider any situations as a whole rather than from a personal point of view.

8).  Avoiding psychological traps and have the magmanimity to admit when your wrong. Be open-minded.

9).  Do not accept weak solutions , then try to seek a reasonable settlement. temporary measure is not what you need. A permanent solution must be sought.

10).  Value of time, schedules and deadlines. A good negotiator will not beat around the bush or adopt delay tactic or waste time talking about the things of this world. It is professional to immediatelt get down to the business at hand.

Most people are born negotiators. From the first breath a baby takes it makes all around his dance to his songs. Most of us do, consciously or unconsciously, what we must we to do to get our own way in life. And if we look closer it is only mastering the art of negotiation.
